Ball pressure, pace, John Wall’s jumpers, and playing desperate—those were the predominant themes from Washington Wizards practice on Thursday. Andre Miller, Marcin Gortat, John Wall, and Randy Wittman all spoke to the media.

The Wizards are still riding a machine-like confidence. Wittman has never led a playoff team, and neither has Wall, but they’ve long prepared for this moment. However, in Game 2, the lack of experience popped up to remind us, most evident in Wall and Bradley Beal’s late-game long attempts at settlement. Wittman said the shots felt like desperation. But he also said he wanted his team to play desperate. There is a difference.

Otherwise, the Wizards watched the film. They know who didn’t run down the court enough, who didn’t get into perimeter passers trying to feed the post, who wasn’t as patient, or aggressive, as they could have been on offense. They know what they need to do tonight. If any player has shown capable of bouncing back, it’s Wall, especially defensively (the Wizards might not ever need his jump shot in this series, although it would be nice).

The Wizards said WHAT during their travel day off between Games 2 and 3? Well, let’s watch…
